Charleston Happenings Vol. 54

Downtown Restaurant Gets Accolades From Food & Wine

There are plenty of Charleston restaurants where getting a table ain’t easy. But how many do you know are worth the hype?

When people start lining up on the sidewalk at 4:15 for a restaurant that opens at 5:00, it’s gotta be about great food.

Click the link to find out which one.

Johns Island Getting Its Due

I have to give the developer of a new project on Johns Island major props. Hayes Park is a mixed-use project off Maybank Highway that has incorporated unique, thoughtful design in both the commercial space and the homes.

New Leaf Builders is a well-regarded homebuilder, and now they’ve taken on commercial space in this cool project.

They’re also starting to put together a very nice restaurant lineup, and announced a new addition recently. Check it out below.

I Just Learned A New Road Improvement Term

It’s not ALWAYS about the restaurants here at Charleston Happenings.

Sometimes you have to be able to get to the restaurants to eat at them. And it’s starting to get easier on Johns Island.

Click below to learn the term more commonly attributed to a farmer or Beelzebub.

Does anyone else love the fact I just used “Beelzebub” in a newsletter about retail and restaurants?

Daniel Island Gets Heavy

One of the reasons I love the retail real estate business is the entrepreneurs. The restaurant and retail store owners who invest more than just $$. Blood, sweat and tears.

They’re also MUCH more opportunistic when it comes to grabbing great real estate.

The owners of Heavy’s Barburger proved this when they jumped on the former Tattooed Moose spot downtown on Morrison.

They’re doing it again. Click below to learn where.
