Charleston Happenings Vol. 56

BODYROK Fitness Studio Opening Soon at Morrison Yard

As a runner, I tend to neglect strength or resistance training as part of my fitness regimen. Not a smart move, particularly as we get older. 😳

A new-to-Charleston fitness concept called BODYROK will be doing their part to keep us strong and healthy.

They’re coming to the MorrisonYard project downtown this Spring.

Prime West Ashley Redevelopment Site Gets Attention From New Charleston Mayor

That is NOT a pretty photo above. But it is a prime site lying fallow in West Ashley, at the corner of Sam Rittenberg Boulevard and Old Towne Road.

Maybe not much longer.

We’ve written about the redevelopment plans for the adjacent Publix shopping center.

Now Charleston’s new mayor, William Cogswell—an experienced developer himself—would like the Ashley Landing shopping center owner and the city of Charleston (owner of that beauty shown above) to coordinate development plans

This is smart redevelopment.

New Custom Bike Shop Opening In North Charleston

Continuing on the fitness theme this week? Nah, we just love interesting, locally-owned businesses.

Bilda Bike is the brainchild of 2 former College of Charleston students, and was founded 15 years ago.

Now they’ll be opening soon in Park Circle.

Charleston Hotel Bar Makes The Cut

A Charleston hotel bar is among those distinguished choices.
